289.YENNAI ARINDHAAL(TAMIL,2015)

289.YENNAI ARINDHAAL(TAMIL,2015),Dir:-Gautham Vasudeva Menon,*ing:-Ajith,Arun Vijay.

After his movies which narrated the life of Police men like Kakka Kaka and Vettayaadu Vilayaadu,GVM penned and made frames for his new flick Yennai Arindhaal as an another police story. The movie with Ajith in the lead role is much of a revamp of the director's previous movies.Even the film have the glimpses of Vaaranam Aayiram,I mean the father-son relationship elements.GVM seems to be following a pattern which he considers as his safe while doing movies. The lost heroine is what he always likes I think. Not to be forgotten what had happened to his experi"mental" movies which made the audiences to consider them as to be on the later side of experimental.

Now,coming to the good parts of the movie Ajith with his excellent screen presence was picturesque. The role was tailor-made for Ajith as Satyadev IPS in many scenes. Not on the usual Tamil-Cop movie flicks type cop with roaring all the way and vomiting punch dialogues as if the police got himself in hell.Instead the movie was an attempt to narrate a Police man's life story which was explained in non-linear story lines. The nearly 3 hour movie was a bit on the slower side during the Trisha's entry,But the story caught up in the end when Arun Vijay scored along with Thala in the climax scenes.Apart from a lackluster script from GVM which made the movie drag at times,Arun Vijay's character really shone all the way.Even with some good films,Arun Vijay wasn't in the front line of mass actors in Tamil. But with this role, there is every chance that some directors might come up with better roles for him in the coming flicks. Anoushka is attractive as usual while the re-entry of Vivek was something for his fans.

Harris Jayaraj's songs remembered of his old movies. But the BGM and the title song really suited the nature of the story. Thus making the thrilling scenes grab their pace at times.Yennai Arindhaal is a real treat to Ajith fans. But on the neutral side, considering the length of the movie and a not-so-fresh script or characters was a setback to the movie. But that doesn't mean that the movie is waste.Instead, the movie is a watchable one and considering the daredevil type Tamil movie cops, this movie kept a certain standard. GVM should thank Ajith and Arun for their immaculate chemistry on the screen. The movie is surely watchable and as a viewer I gave it a 3/5 with Ajith and Arun impressing me a lot.
