  I started watching the movie with lots of expectations. The reviews after the theatre watch from movie reviewers skyrocketed my expectations to be true. I strongly believe that there always would be a difference between watching a movie in the theatre and from home. the ambience could work wonders. But did this movie matched my anticipation after watching it from TV? Let's see.

  The movie started in a promising manner to be called as a mystery/thriller. The dead body of a lady was found as if she jumped from the top floor. Police considered it as a suicide from their primary investigation. But the whole situation changed when multiple incidents took place in a similar manner in the following days in the city.

  Now there is room for a perfect mystery/thriller. The factors like who/whydunnit are now on the books. But as the movie moved on it started showing unexpected lags due to the way the story was presented. Bharat did a decent job in the title role. He tried to bring his best as the cop who investigates the case. Suresh Menon and the rest of the characters also did a decent job, but nothing special to mention with their characters too as the story lacked the x-factor to keep the viewer glued to their seats. The movie just went in circles with the technique of deception to distract the viewers.

  I think the story of the movie then had a lazy approach from the makers. They coined up the rest for just the twisted climax. I lost interest in the movie halfway through the movie when so many distractions raised in the form of songs and other issues. I think the makers were confused about the genre at a certain stage of the production.

  With such a promising background to work on, the makers never worked to better it to reach the standards of the many Tamil movies that had achieved their cult status during the past years. The movie, in the end, became a mediocre experience for me. Watch it if you need to know what happened in the climax if you have some spare time.

         What about someone sending a cut-off body part to the headquarters of the Conservative Party party and the Liberal party? How can this be related to the name of this documentary? This Netflix documentary tries to explain the creation of this heinous deed with cats.

       After receiving both positive and negative reviews from critics, this documentary serves better as a crime flick rather than a usual documentary. Filmed with real-life characters, the film takes the viewer to a new level of watching crime thrillers in a different form. Remember watching the movie Searching by Aneesh Chaganty and similar movies that captivated the viewers by their unique way of making? They used the computer and the internet as a tool to present their ideas of a movie. Though Don't F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer be called as a documentary, it also uses the very idea of these movies.

  A limited-series from Netflix had its chilling moments as a crime thriller along with the twists one really need to enjoy such tape. I was literally glued to my seat while watching the movie. A blood-chilling experience due to the presentation of the timeline for the different incidents that happened for nearly three years.

  The series illustrates how a group of so-called internet nerds who were amateurs became a part of a crime in a vast space. They predicted and sometimes could be blamed for their deeds, and they realize or try to intimidate the viewers about such actions. In that way too this series had a clear complexity on all the aspects they followed.

  Getting deep into the storyline might not be a good idea as the series deserves to be watched without any prejudiced mentality to keep up the thrill of what you are going to watch on the screen. Yet this is based on true facts and happenings that one could find more online. But go for it to experience a new presentation of a crime thriller.

     A stranger visited Mort Rainey and told him that one of his published stories was a copy of his work. Mort was surprised and refused the claim straight up. The man who introduced himself as Shooter from Mississippi slowly started to distress Mort. Mort abode by himself in a cabin in a small town. The indictments of plagiarism by Shooter was an added burn to the already burned out life of Mort.  Shooter started following Mort and to make things worse he started stalking him resulting in various material lose for Mort. Shooter later demanded Mort change the climax of the story.

    Secret Window is a psychological thriller starring Johnny Depp, Maria Bello and John Turturro. The antagonist role played by Turturro was able to heckle the antagonist in all the ways he could. The small threats evolved and developed into danger games. The cat and mouse game got out of hand at one stage and Mort started to believe that someone who hated Mort was behind these formidable episodes.

    The movie follows a promising storyline at first which creates a sense of suspense due to the antagonist role. As the movie moves on, one can detect the glimpses of many other flicks that followed the same hallway years ago. the climax might be a moderate twist for a viewer in 2004. But for a viewer in 2020, the suspense factor is "easy to walk piece of ice" to decipher towards the climax.

  That spoiled the whole movie for me. But let alone this, Secret Window is a good movie to watch for thriller lovers that won't fall into a must-watch movie list.

    Harlan Thrombey took his own life right after his birthday party celebrations. The untimely demise of an affluent, publishing company mogul who gained popularity with his crime novels raised suspicions afterwards. Then came a perspicuous, quick-witted, discerning, inscrutable detective to the scene with two police officers. The detective got his invitation to the whole plot in strange ways.

      The synopsis of Knives Out is pretty much normal as a detective story. But the whole story becomes captivating to the viewers while revealing the darker shade of the characters. The darker side becomes more prevalent as the plot develops. At a certain point, even though the viewers know more about the characters and their intentions, the investigation team still appears to be in the dark searching for the right light to turn up.


  There is a stage where the story becomes more interesting. The unexpected twists and trails start to mess up with the viewer too. The gradual development of a murder mystery plot to something that keeps the viewer stitched to their seats makes it furthermore interesting later.

  The likes of Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas had their moments in the storyline. The strange behaviour of Ana De Armas as Martha is well blended with the story though it appears to be beyond the logic. The movie follows the old traditional way of classic detective storytelling by the likes of Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Dyle and many others. I would like to consider this movie as a homage to those greats who laid the foundation for the whole mystery genre storytelling.

   One could see Sherlock Holmes or Poirot in the characterization of Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc. The style he holds from his way of 007 movies had further improvisation for this character. A detective well dressed, with an accent and whereabouts unknown at the beginning of the story, created the way for this character to immerse with the story-line.

   If someone is a fan of the mystery thrillers, go for it. Undoubtedly, one of the best movies of 2019 with the way it was presented and everything that followed makes Knives Out to be a must movie to be in the watchlist of movieholics.
